Day 10
Good morning and welcome to today’s Daily insights. This is day 10 of our
episodes, What does it take to Grow. On behalf of Pastor Lucy Paynter daily
insights, this is Jane Lenny.
Today we discuss Habit number 5. In order to grow we need regular exercise –
Service
Serving God is one of the easiest ways to grow fast in your Christian Faith. You
need to personally hunt for opportunities to serve God in your local assembly...
even if you are not hired.
Mathew 20 talks about the Parable of the Workers in the Vineyard
Verse 1-7 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in
the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 2 Now when he had agreed with the
laborers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard. 3 And he went out
about the third hour and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, 4
and said to
them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, and whatever is right I will give you.’ So
they went. 5 Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour, and did likewise.
6 And about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing [a]
idle, and
said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day?’ 7 They said to him,
‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You also go into the vineyard, [b]
and
whatever is right you will receive.’
Most churches offer small group meetings and various ministry opportunities. Pray
and ask God where he would want you to get "plugged in." Believers who connect
with other Christians and discover their purpose are the ones who naturally grow in
their walk with Christ. Sometimes this takes a little time, but most churches offer
classes or counselling to help you find the place that’s rightDon’t get discouraged if the first thing you try doesn’t seem to fit. Once you get
involved in a meaningful project with other Christians, you'll see the challenge was
worth the effort.
Romans 12:6-8 says “We have different gifts according to the grace given us. If
one’s gift is prophecy, let him use it in proportion to his faith; 7if it is serving, let
him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage;
if it is giving, let him give generously; if it is leading, let him lead with diligence; if
it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.…
Regular physical exercise improves our brain health, weight management, reduce
diseases, strengthens our bones and muscles, and improves our ability to do
everyday activities. Regular exercise through Christian service grows your faith
tremendously. Christian service is equivalent to worshiping God, it is exemplifying
Christ. Service is exhibiting spiritual gifts and co-laboring with God and it is not in
vain. No one is too old, too young, too inferior, too poor, too rich, too far gone in
failure and sin, or too useless to serve the Lord and be in His service. All believers
are by default in full-time Christian service. Ultimately, all service and labor for
the Lord is never in vain.
1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV) 58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm.
Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord
because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
