Pastor Lucy Paynter Daily Insights
Good morning and welcome, This is Pastor Lucy Paynter, with your daily insights. Yesterday we said that we will be talking a lot about Launching into the deep, because it’s going to be our theme for the New Year. We’ll be looking at different aspects and applications of this statement in our lives, so that we can see where, and how we need to launch deeper. So, today we are going talk about matters of wisdom and knowledge. Our reading is from Proverbs 20:5 “which says counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.”
The truth is the counsel of those with great understanding is not so easy to come by. You know, most of these people are very ‘silent’. Most potential mentors, those with the greatest potential to influence your life do not usually give unsolicited advice and help. I am a witness to those people that I have met in my life that have potential to mentor me or are experts in their field. You may mistake them to not know anything because they are just silent. But a discerning heart, a heart with an even greater determination and penetration can draw this wisdom out of them.
You know, like a deep well that requires an extra stretch and resilience to draw water from, so is the mind of a man or woman of great knowledge in any field. Because sometimes, even what exists in great abundance requires great knowledge and prudence to benefit from it. So, wisdom, knowledge and even expertise that have been acquired over the years is not just dished out easily, you need prudence, you need patience, you need determination to receive it.
You see, we have great men and women in our midst. And I want to pause there and ask you a question, who are in your circles, open your eyes and see who are this people that the lord has put in your path? People with knowledge, with information, and wisdom that can turn our lives around: People that have an advantage, a chance that some people don’t have. Look around, open your eyes, who are the people in your circles, in your path? Who are the people that you have access to, and what do they have? And then ask yourself this question. But then, what do we do with it? You have access to this people, then what do we do with it? Do we get something beyond the casual, standard talk with them? Do we exploit to the maximum, the opportunity that God has put before us in the form of such influences? Have you ever wanted more than the paycheck from your boss? Have ever wanted to get more from your pastor, no from your bishop, than the Sunday teachings? You know We are talking about launching into the deep this year. Scratching more than the surface. We’re talking about not settling for the shallow waters this year. Reaching beyond and below the surface of the well where all manner of pollutants float. You know you may tell me pastor lucy, we don’t know who you are talking about. You know there are just like these and these. You look at their personality. We are talking about going beyond what you can see on the surface. Scratching, Scratching, you know, beyond the surface and going below where all manner of pollutants are, don’t tell me they have anger issues, don’t tell me you think they are too proud that’s why they don’t share their wisdom, don’t tell me you think they think they know it all, go beyond all those manner of pollutants on the surface. We’re talking about launching our drawing bucket into the deep. Because the season for us to seek the hidden reservoirs of knowledge. The hidden reservoirs of wisdom and graces that the Lord has made available to us. That season is ready.
And I pray that we may have the wisdom that knows more than just how to get wisdom. The wisdom that knows how to use wisdom. The wisdom to pump up the salutary waters from the deep. May the Lord give us the grace to identify the deep still waters and to cultivate communication so that we may draw from these pure, undisturbed sources. May we have the grace to withstand the discomfort that sometimes must be taken with men and women of great knowledge who are not easily diffusive of their knowledge. It is my prayer that as we continue into the New Year, the Lord may connect you to people who will act as the bridge to your destiny, and that you, may have the knowledge and prudence to benefit from it. In Jesus’ mighty name. shalom, this is pastor lucy Paynter with your daily insights and this is launching deeper, day 2.
